Matthew Lewis is a Senior Program Officer specializing in African species conservation with WWF's Species Conservation Program. Before coming to WWF in 2004, he worked as a wildlife biologist for the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe in South Dakota helping the tribe restore bison, swift foxes and black-footed ferrets to the reservation and manage tribal fish and wildlife resources. He previously worked as a wildlife biologist for the federal government in the Pacific Northwest on endangered species issues. Matthew also served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Kenya helping local communities establish tree nurseries and conserve indigenous forests. A native of Missouri, Matthew obtained a BS degree in Biology from Southwest Missouri State University and an MS degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology from Arkansas Tech University.
