Neil Burgess, Ph.D.
Senior Advisor – Conservation Science and Africa Program
Neil specializes in a wide variety of conservation issues, primarily in Africa. These include biodiversity patterns; protected areas, Eastern African forests; project design; project management; project monitoring and evaluation; integrated conservation and development; and capacity building. Neil’s current work focuses on providing assistance to WWFs work in Coastal East Africa and the Congo Basin, and to answering international scientific questions of the highest relevance for conservation in Africa.
Neil is also a Professor of Conservation Biology at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, where he teaches International Nature Conservation and supervises students working on conservation issues around the world. He is also a Senior Fellow at the UNEP-World Conservation Monitoring Center in Cambridge, UK.
