Cost: Prices are per person, based on double occupancy: Stateroom B: $8.095; Stateroom A: $9,400; Junior Suite: $11,170; Deluxe Suite: $12,230; Balcony Suite: $14,600; Owner’s Suite: $16,955. Number of participants: The ship can accommodate 100 passengers.
Included: Accommodations, ground- and ship-based transportation and meals as indicated in the itinerary; educational programs; port and handling charges; government fees and taxes; gratuities; services of the expedition staff, including lectures and briefings; all group activities and excursions; use of shipboard facilities; coffee, tea and bottled water throughout the expedition; cocktail reception; 24-hour room service.
Not included: International flights; one-way charter flight between Rabaul, Papua New Guinea, to Cairns, Australia; transfers to and from the ship; optional scuba diving and alternative excursions; excess baggage charges; airport arrival and departure taxes; passport and/or visa fees; accident/baggage/cancellation insurance; items of a personal nature such as laundry, bar charges, alcoholic beverages, e-mail/ Internet/fax/telephone charges, and anything else not specifically mentioned as included.
Deposit: A deposit equal to 25% of your voyage cost, payable by credit card or check made out to WWF, confirms your space. A completed waiver of liability form is due within 14 days of registration. The final balance is due no later than 90 days prior to departure and is payable by credit card or check made out to Asia Transpacific Journeys, WWF’s tour operator for this program.
Cancellations & refunds: Cancellation must be received in writing at WWF, by U.S. mail, email or fax. At the time WWF receives your written cancellation, the following per person penalties will apply: 91 to 120 prior to departure: Full deposit. 90 or fewer days prior: No refund. Cancellation could cost you as much as 100% of your tour cost.
What to expect: Travelers should be fit and in good health. At minimum, you should be able to walk one to three miles and get in and out of Zodiac landing craft unassisted; optional excursions at a more rigorous pace will be available for those who select them. Scuba divers must be certified. Temperatures range from the upper 70s°F to low 90s°F during the day, with high humidity. We don’t expect rough seas at this time of year, but conditions can never be guaranteed. Travelers susceptible to motion sickness should plan to bring preventatives. We anticipate being able to do all activities listed in the itinerary; however, the schedule will be dictated by weather and tides. Singles / shares / triples: Limited singles are available, subject to availability at the time of inquiry. Rates for singles are as follows: Stateroom B: $12,143; Stateroom A: $14,100; Junior Suite: $16,755; Deluxe Suite: $18,345; Balcony Suite: $21,900; Owner’s Suite: $25,433. If you wish to share a cabin, we will attempt to find a roommate for you; if a roommate cannot be found by the time of the final payment due date, the single rate will be assessed. Please inquire with WWF Travel about the availability and rates for triples accommodations.
Getting there & getting home: It is highly recommended that you arrive in Cairns at least one day early, to ensure you have adequate time to make the group charter flight the morning of October 13. Our tour operator will automatically book all guests onto the one-way group charter flight between Cairns and Rabaul, Papua New Guinea, and will bill you an additional $540 per person for that flight. For return flights, you may depart anytime after breakfast on the final day. Trip insurance: Travel insurance is highly recommended; information will be sent to registrants. Exclusions for preexisting medical conditions may be waived with the prompt purchase of travel insurance.
Understandings & responsibilities: In order to offer wildlife-oriented travel experiences to its members, World Wildlife Fund (WWF) has arranged for an independent Tour Operator(s) to organize this tour and procure carriage, accommodations, and other tour services from other parties. WWF serves only to assist in making necessary travel arrangements and in no way represents, or acts as agent for, transportation carriers, hotels, or any other suppliers of services connected with this tour. Travel and services are subject only to the terms and conditions under which such accommodations, services, and transportation are offered or provided, and WWF and its employees accept no responsibility or liability therefore. WWF and the Tour Operator(s) accept no responsibility for any damage, loss, accident, injury, delay, or other irregularity which may be caused by the defect of any vehicle or the negligence or default of any company or person engaged in carrying out or performing any of the services involved in this tour. Nor do WWF or the Tour Operator(s) accept responsibility for losses or expenses due to sickness, weather, strikes, political unrest, wars, or other such causes. Any such losses or expenses must be borne by the participant, since tour rates provide for arrangements only for the time stated. WWF and the Tour Operator(s) reserve the right to make changes in the published itinerary whenever, in their judgment, conditions warrant, or if they deem it necessary for the comfort, convenience, or the safety of the tour. They reserve the right to withdraw without penalty any tour announced. WWF and the Tour Operator(s) also reserve the right to decline to accept any person as a member of the tour, or to require any participant to withdraw from the tour, at any time, if such action is determined by the appropriate staff member to be in the best interest of the health, safety, and general welfare of the tour group or the individual participant. Under such circumstances, no refund will be made. Baggage and personal effects are solely the responsibility of the owners at all times. Dates, schedules, program details, and costs, given in good faith, based on information available and in force in March 2012, are subject to change and revision. As a condition to acceptance of enrollment, please read, agree to, and sign, the Waiver of Liability forms that will be sent upon registration.
