Sea levels are rising and the oceans are warming. Droughts threaten crops, wildlife and freshwater supplies. From polar bears in the Arctic to marine turtles off the coast of Africa, our planet’s diversity of life is at risk from climate change.

Climate change poses a fundamental threat to the vulnerable places, species and people WWF seeks to protect. To adequately address this crisis we must urgently reduce carbon pollution and prepare for the consequences of global warming that the world is already experiencing.

Combining global outreach with local expertise, WWF is:

  • helping people and nature adapt to a warmer world
  • advancing policies to curb climate change
  • engaging with businesses to reduce emissions
  • mobilizing millions of people for action during Earth Hour

Lou Leonard

Managing Director of Climate Change

"Our political system in America is a bit like an ocean liner…neither is good at sudden changes in direction. But there are moments in time when we must act quickly and decisively. If we are to stop the climate crisis, that time is now."
